- PREFACE to Pose Method of Running
from "Pose Method® of Running", PREFACE
Most running books proceed from the assumption that running is not a skill sport but instead is a training sport. These books center their advice on training information -- how much to run, how hard to run, how to cross-train, what to eat, etc. All of which is valuable information, but doesn’t address the central issue of how one runs.
- MY PHILOSOPHY OF RUNNING
from "Pose Method® of Running", Section I, Chapter 2
If you thought that headline-sized promises of health, beauty and overall well being were an invention of the popular press the late 1900s, the above bit of Greek wisdom should dispel that notion. People have always sought "magic pills" to make their lives better and the Greeks were no exception. Still they had the essence right, for there is probably no other physical exercise as simple, accessible and so beneficial for human beings as running. Running is good for you, and when incorporated into an overall balanced lifestyle it really can go a long way toward making you healthy, handsome (or beautiful) and more thoughtful.
- THE BEST TIME TO LEARN THE POSE METHOD
from "Pose Method® of Running", Section I, Chapter 3
For most runners, regardless of experience or ability, adopting the Pose Method of Running will represent a major change in running style. And because runners tend to focus on weekly mileage and P.R.s (personal record times) it can be very tempting to ignore the technique to "get a long run in" or "run a quick 5K." Thus, you should schedule your conversion to the Pose Method when your expectations for performance are the lowest – your off-season.
- MASTERING RUNNING TECHNIQUE
from "Pose Method® of Running", Section IV, Chapter 20
For many of us, it is difficult to equate learning to run with more esoteric pursuits such as becoming a classical pianist or a ballet dancer. Running somehow seems like a more fundamental human activity while piano or dance appear to be more complex and artistic. Indeed, it is common to think of "running" as something "we do" while dance and piano are something "we learn."

- HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR RUNNING TECHNIQUE
At the beginning of the running boom of the 70’s neither athletes nor coaches were paying enough attention to strength development for running. To get better at running, they thought, you just have to run more. Instead of providing for the overall development of the human organism they focused on cardiovascular and respiratory systems as the key to enhanced performance. Read »»»
