My biggest goal this year is to run a Marathon. It seems grandiously far-fetched of me I know, but I am not alone in dreaming as almost 500,000 people in the U.S. have now completed a marathon. My plan is to start the New Year with a little thought about the science of running (which prior to this month I didn't realize there was).

Apparently quite a bit of research has gone into the physiology of running and the folks over at www.posetech.com hope to bring this science into everyday use, by everyday people.

So, I've been trying it and my last three runs have consisted of "falling foward" and using only the thickly padded front of my foot rather than the bony heel. It seems to have helped dramatically with the knee pain, shin splints and plantar fascitis that have plagued my running to date.

They say that a guy can conserve up to 50% of his energy simply by running properly. My longest run this year was about 8 miles, I'd love to double that early this New Year. We'll see...
