PUMA H STREET (discontinued)

Puma H Street gets the majority vote! Though called a leisure walking shoe by the running shoe makers, in the Pose community H street is considered to be the best running shoe today!

Incredibly light weight and flexible, it allows the best interaction between your foot and the ground.

READ/POST REVIEWS

I have a favorite color (lime green) of H streets - 6 marathons plus the training plus other training in them - over 5000 miles when I stopped counting, and I can still run in them. H's are an exception - very durable and long lasting and tend to wear better that shoes designed specifically for running since they where designed for street fashion wear.

The durability will depend on your technique and the specific shoe. Monitor the sole of your shoe for clues as to what you are doing. Push, impact lateral side, late pull and they will show wear patterns and wear out faster.

For over a year, I've been very pleased with the Puma H Streets, carrying a body weight of 200-220 pounds (6'2") on 2-3 12 mile runs per week. I also where a pair to work every day. One close alternative to consider is the Puma Taper SP. (http://www.zappos.com/n/bs?q=taper+sp) It appears to have an even thinner, but harder, sole, and a more minimal heal. It weighs about an ounce more than the H Street per shoe (at US size 13), but seems more durable. For triathlon transitions, its thicker sides and softer inside might make it easier to get into in a hurry, and more comfortable to use barefoot. I like both the Taper SPand H Streets, and bounce back and forth between the two. I'd be interested in hearing arguments against the Taper SP. FYI, I've been pleased with size US 13's for both models, though I where a size 12 in most other shoes. - Kelley

most of the department stores like Macy's Norsdrom do carry it. You can also get it online by clicking on the links I posted around here at zappos. That store is really good at accepting returns and exchanges and they ship it fast.

I'm having a hard time finding a place to buy H-Streets. Any suggestions. thanks.

Since my first review, I found an H street that fit my foot and now use it exclusively. I have trained for and run a marathon in it. I have run on all terrains and conditons except snow, ice, and mud.

This is by far my Pose shoe of choice.

You can find some discount prices on Eastbay, Amazon, or Ebay.

I have tried the Puma H Street. I ran 10 mile in them last week and would have liked to take them on a long run this weekend, but they were just a little off in the fit.

The shoe is very hard to find in a store to try on. I found one but in very small sizes. I ordered mine from the Puma website. Total cost was around $83.

The shoe has an outer sole that is the same thickness from heel to toe - approximately 5/8 inch with insert, 1/2 inch without insert. Weight is approximately 6 oz and 5 oz without insert. The insert has very little arch support and without the insert there is no arch support.

The width size is a tight D with a narrow toe box but not as tight and narrow as the NB240.

The outer sole is carbon rubber and flat except for very small little rubber spikes uniformly place on the sole.

The upper is very little weight and flexible mesh. Although it is not important in runing pose, the heel counter is very soft for the occassions when you might point your toe down when walking.

Except for the Hersey competition race walker, this comes close in design to the shoe described as a pose shoe. Closer than the racing flat I buy and then cut off the heel.

My only problem was in the length. I normally wear an 11D. Compared to the other shoe I wear, the Puma 11D fits like an 111/2 Narrow D. Without the insert, the width was a better fit, but the length felt like a 12.

I like the shoe, but it is too long for me. I do not feel comfortable returning it since there is tiny bit of discoloration on the outer sole. If anybody might be interested in the shoe, contact me by email. It is very clean, 10 miles wear, Blue/Amazon (bright green striping).

I've got a dark blue with dark green stripe, they look pretty cool!
I've only just started using my other pair(bit boring grey colour!) on the road, I've been using them around my local playing fields, which have been pretty boggy underfoot! so I've not really got the full benefit of them.
But since using them on the road I can't believe how good they feel to run in, the interaction with the ground and feel while wearing them is just great.
Up until recently I've been using racing flats to run on the road in, but using the streets I feel are far better for learning to run Pose, hence buying another pair, in fact I'm tempted to go get another pair(they also have them in light blue with a gold stripe-also lovely looking!)
Cheers
David
