NIKE WAFFLE RACER II (Men)
SHOE SELECTION

The Pose Running technique goes against everything traditionally taught about running - accordingly, the running shoes suitable for it are not your traditional stably cushioned clunkers. In this section we have listed some of the running shoes that Dr.Romanov recommends.

What kind of shoes are good for running? Dr.Romanov's answer is - lightweight flats! Browse through the selection below, read and post reviews, find the best shoes for you! We tried to collect as many various pairs in here as possible.

NIKE WAFFLE RACER II (Men)

Find these on E-Bay! Just type in the name as it appears above or switch it around a bit for more results, and that's it! Plenty of choices under $50. This pair is considered one of the better choices for pose running.

Great for off-road or winter running, where a little more grip than the Puma H Street is required. The carbon outsole grips well on rough surfaces but can be very slippy on smooth wet surfaces such as rocks or concrete. However, the extra grip from the waffle blocks on the sole is very welcome when running downhill in the wet, preventing the shoe from slipping forwards.
They are noticeably heavier and stiffer on the foot when compared to the Puma H Street, and give slightly less sensitivity and feedback as a result. They are still much lighter than 'conventional' running shoes, though. The sole unit is stiff laterally which again increases confidence when running on rough surfaces off-road, and the overall feel is quite similar to a good quality fell-running shoe.
I found the toebox area quite low, with the result that it can rub on the tops of the toes after prolonged wear. In contrast, there is plenty of width in the toe area and the lacing is firm and positive. Depending on the shape and width of your foot you may find the heel cup slightly low and loose.
I purchased 2 pairs for winter training from the local Nike Factory Outlet; both pairs for £20 each so great value, especially given the intended hard use. I have seen them elsewhere advertised at up to £60 but I could not recommend them at this price. Target purchase price £20-£35; good value at that but should not be your main shoe for Pose Running: get something lighter and more sensitive.
