Question everything. Embrace nature. Be nice. I walked away with those three concepts after meeting Dr. Romanov in March of 2007. Previously, I had tried Pose Method on and off for two years without much success. However, in 2007, with my wedding and a cross-country move coming, I decided to fully commit myself to understanding the only standard for running. With the help of NYC Level 3 Pose Coach Josh Gold, my perception improved, and I met the requirements needed to attend Dr. Romanov’s coaching clinic. Pose Method started making more sense.
Question everything. Pose Method is more than just running. As Dr. Romanov broke down common misconceptions of running, I realized that Pose can be used in every aspect of life. As a personal trainer, this meant rethinking everything I taught. This breakthrough has led to countless discoveries about what the human body is capable of. By asking questions and having the courage to look for the answers, one takes ownership of their existence.
Nature is our most reliable training partner; yet, most runners still work against it. Learning to fall. Learning to trust. Facing fear. That is empowerment. No matter where one finishes in a race, if fear is conquered, the victory is real. Because I have been paying such close attention to perfecting my skill, the QUANTITY of my running decreased. However, the QUALITY of my running improved dramatically. Before Pose I used to hope for a good run. I would warm up and wonder if my legs would react well. Now that I understand how to use gravity, I can ensure myself a successful run every time. By no means am I a master; however, I teach best what I need to learn.
As I sat and participated in the clinic, I was most impressed with how nice Dr. Romanov was. Every question was answered thoroughly. Each participant was given the same amount of attention. Dr. Romanov’s mission was for everyone at the clinic to understand Pose Method. Success has not corrupted the man; he is not arrogant. Instead Dr. Romanov is one of the most humble human beings I have ever met. I hope I can display at least a tenth of the passion he has for life and for running.
