The substance behind a… Good running style by Benedict Carey, LA Times Staff Writer
Some people lope, some scramble and others fly off in a confusion of knees and elbows. Running isn't an art form; it's what people do at the airport when they're late for a flight or the neighbor's ill-tempered dog rounds the corner. Click to read full article.
Born (1966) and educated in Cheboksary, Russia. Presently live there with my wife, Nadezhda, and son, Roman.
I started to train at the age of 9, but did not like it. At the age of 12 I started to train again, this time with a young University teacher and track and field coach, Nicholas Romanov. This meeting proved very important not only for my athletic career, but also for my future profession. During 15 years of training for high jumping with Nicholas I never had any injuries. After high school I entered Physical Education Faculty of the University, where Nicholas was teaching. At this time he was already using his Pose Method of teaching exercise techniques and applied it to all running events, throwing (javelin, discus and shot put) and jumping (high jump, long jump and triple jump) as well.
After graduation I worked as a University Physical Education teacher and Sport School track and field coach. During all these years the Pose Method was an integral part of my work with my students and athletes. The greatest advantage of this method lies in the fact that it forms a logical and interrelated sequence of poses tied up with the inner system of commands, aimed at the maximal use of gravity with the least athlete's own efforts and minimal energy expenditures.
The Pose Method is still being used in education of our faculty students all track and field exercises. Additionally, Dr. Romanov's method is successfully used by one of his Russian students in training of special Olympics students (children with cerebral paralysis, amputees) and allowed them to make our National Team preparing for the World Championship.
In 1993 Dr. Romanov moved to the USA and our country lost him, but fortunately the whole World has him now!
In December of 1997 I defended my first Ph.D. on "Management of the Training Process of Elite Track and Field Athletes during an Intense Racing Season". In November of 2005 I defended my second Ph.D. on "Theory and Practice of Management of the Training Process of Track and Field Athletes (High Jumpers)". The Pose Method of Dr. Romanov makes up a significant part of the conceptual basis of my second dissertation.
The Pose Method of Running is only the top of the "iceberg" of knowledge and experience, which are offered to everybody by Dr. Romanov. The largest, invisible part of the "iceberg" is his philosophy of attainment of perfection of movement, a universal concept of motion as the ability of any living organism to move in the field of terrestrial attraction.
It's obvious that the Pose Method is applicable not only to running, but also to a wide variety of motion activity. They are only waiting for their turn in the discussion. It's just a matter of time.
