As an engineering specialist I'm inspired by efficient movement. My first degree was in Materials Science with Bio-Medical science, for example understanding the stresses and strains that lead to knee and hip replacements and designing bio-mechanically correct prosthetics. I specialised in engineering at Oxford University and have worked for a multi-national for the last 7 years with 4 years experience in their Pharmaceutical division in the field of Osteoporosis. Correct movement is proven to improve bone quality, something we should all want to improve, but particularly important for postmenopausal women.

I practice 'Methode Naturelle', a system based on moral and ethical principles such as courage, action and altruism. As a part of this system there are a number of natural and utility capacities of which running is the heart and soul. "Etre fort pour etre utile", 'one must be strong to be useful', Georges Hebert (1875-1957).

Our fundamental ability to run has evolved over a few million years. It is no coincidence or surprise that since the introduction of thick soled shoes, and in particular heel cushioned footwear, we have steadily increased our rate of running injuries. By clumping up our feet and sitting too much we have lost our perception of flow, i.e. our ability to harness gravity, ground reaction and elasticity for movement.

Why Pose?
It's a no-brainer if you understand bio-mechanics. It is inevitable that heel-toe and mid-foot running WILL cause injury. These forms of running are not in line with natural movement, yet have become the way in which most people run as a result of poor coaching, ridiculous footwear and man made surfaces. There is only one way to run, that is to run naturally. Until the age of about 6 years old all children run naturally with the Pose method, without knowing it. I have analysed winning runners technique in races across the world and it is the runners who run Pose that consistently win and avoid injury. Dr. Romanov has proved the natural method through scientific rigor, there is no disputing the natural method and its scaring an industry built on orthotics and heel cushioned shoes.

Understanding Pose concepts has helped me run with a smile on my face, slash personal records, ride a snowboard like never before, but most importantly it's given me the confidence to know I'll be riding and running in old age without injuries. POSE = Natural movement that translates to any sport.

Why Coaching?
Coaching is about changing perception, we all have unique 'come from' states and goals. Our bodies act as an integrated system, holistic and proportional body flexibility and strength is required for POSE running. To develop this level of perception and conditioning individual coaching is needing to unwind any faulty muscle recruitment patterns that have developed over the years, probably as a result of poor footwear and non-functional exercise. It's common for people to think they are running POSE but suffer from achilles and calf problems. I use video feedback methods and functional skeleton demonstrations to accelerate your learning process and help you internalise movement concepts. POSE is about education and conditioning that will contribute towards a happier, healthier life.
