Running on Ice

How the Pose Method® transformed my running.
Since 1999, the year of my knee surgery from over training in running, until 6 months ago, I was very leery about running hard again. I'd done several triathlons, doing well in the swim and bike, but not the run.
So in spring 2000 I asked Jim Donaldson a world class triathlete, 3 time Hawaii Ironman for some advice to improve my running. He gave me a video tape to look at from a USAT coaching clinic he attended a few years back, it was the pose method of running video, by Dr. Romanov. I watched the video and made a decision to try these dance like movements.
In May of 2001, I started doing these Pose technique drills 3 times a week no running, just drills. It felt very hard in the beginning, and at the same time challenging; it was a good workout. I was sore in the beginning using muscles that I never used before. Being a massage therapist and Yoga instructor, I took advantage of my skills, made sure I stretched afterwards and got weekly massages. One day while practicing Pose Method® on the track, someone commented that it looked like I was reverting back to my child hood as I skipped, hopped and jumped across the track. I just smiled knowing that I was on to something.
Father's day, my first triathlon of the season, I nailed a 2nd place in the 45-49 age group best finish ever for me at this race, and almost as fast as my pre-injury time. This convinced me that Pose Method® was working for me.
This was my best season ever as a triathlete! A top 5 place in every race I entered. Last year, at Our home town race, an Olympic distance event, I ran a 48 min in the10k. Thanks to Dr. Romanov I shaved over 5mins. off my 10k time, placed 2nd in my age group, and felt great afterwards.
I was so pleased with this years race results that I have become a true believer in Dr. Romanov's Pose Method® of running techniques. I would recommend the Pose Method® to any runner elite or recreational who is interested in improving their running!
