European Union citizen, born in Salamanca (Spain) in 1966, with several years of international experience, having lived in countries like Spain, USA and Switzerland. Currently I live in Geneva with my wife, Maria, and our cat, Coby (pronounced “kobee”).
I must admit that my lack of commitment to a consistent fitness routine over the years made me reach a point of no return: 216.5 pounds in 1999. Today I weight 154 pounds, and I feel lighter and very happy. How did I do that? A good balance of dieting and reintroducing sports in my daily habits.
My personal experience with sports dates from my early days in school, as a rugby player. At the time, I was kind of a “fatty boy”. Later on, when I was 17, I started lifting some weights and practicing martial arts and boxing. Over time, I also entered into the world of kick and Thai boxing, highly demanding sports. Only a few years ago, when I decided to loose weight and start exercising again, while we were living in the USA, I started practicing some Vale Tudo (No Holds Barred fighting). However, my very solid foundation in traditional boxing helped me to obtain my certification as coach and officer from the USA Amateur Olympic Boxing Federation (USA Boxing), and I began teaching people how to box with proper technique and skill, since many of these new “open fighters” were coming from grappling arts (like brazilian jiu jitsu or wrestling), with poor boxing skill. Where? Nearby Philadelphia, where most famous boxers of the world were born as legends! Very proud of it!
Boxing and martial arts are very demanding sports, both in terms of aerobic (10 round long bouts) and anaerobic (3 minute rounds, very intense) endurance. Obviously, running has always been one of the basic activities for any boxer’s routine. But… did my fighters know how to run? Did I, after so many years in sports, really know how to run?
My personal experience with Pose
The Pose Method® of Running intrigued me from day one. How come people run without having been taught first? Would you let people do the same in other sports? Downhill skiing? Well, no! How about injuries in sports? I’ve been injured while running, and you?
Dr. Nicholas Romanov came up, not only with a scientifically sound method, but more importantly, came up with hope, not only for renowned athletes, but for all those who run for leisure, or who need running as a key ingredient of their physical preparation.
I am interested in teaching adult men and women how to run injury free. I’m also very interested in teaching army and special forces operatives around the world. Running is essential in so many activities in our lives that it seems very critical to improve this skill. The Pose Method® of Running has been brought to us after years of research by Dr. Romanov, now we have the responsibility to spread this body of knowledge. I have found that my own motivation comes stronger when I can help others.
Just a final word on Dr. Romanov: he is an integral person, a wonderful human being. He has not discovered something after years of effort and observation just for the sake of it, but with the sole intention of helping others. Isn’t that the spirit of a good coach? I tell you what, simply the best!
