There were various articles written on how to start learning the Pose Method® of Running, what exercises to start with, what to do and what not to do and there is also a
Beginner's Guide with step by step description of the learning process. We're not going to repeat any of that here. This article is simply an outline of quick instructions with links to everything that's already available to you free on our website.
1. The Pose Method® theory, the "platform" so to say. You have to know it before you can start learning it. We recommend getting
the Pose Method® book and DVD. Besides providing the theory of the Pose Method®, the book also presents the background history, the what, where and why of Pose Method® and how Dr.Romanov put it all together. It's a very educational and entertaining as well as a fascinating read. If buying the book and the dvd is not on your list of "things to do" for one reason or another, we offer plenty of articles and instructions for free throughout this website. 2. Read first - try later. Try to read everything you can before you even attempt to go for a test run. And if you can restrain yourself and not run at all when you first start learning the Pose Method® you will thank yourself later. 3. Drill first - run later. From reading go to drilling and exercising. For better results it is smart to start from the very beginning and learn the key elements of the Pose Method® technique while
building the necessary strength in the body parts that are crucial in running - your hips and hamstrings. Many runners like yourself have reported various levels of overall improvement just after starting the pose drills. Have faith and patience and the rewards will be there.
4. Get a Pose Buddy or a free feedback. We always recommend attending a
Pose Clinic or getting a
Pose Coach to ease your way through the learning process, but since for many neither one of those is an option, we strongly recommend getting together with a running buddy or at least getting your running on video and posting it on our
Running Forums for a free video analysis and feedback by Pose Certified Running Coaches and forum members.
5. Running shoes. Running in wrong shoes is one of the two main causes of running related injuries, the other cause being the incorrect technique. So, select your shoes carefully and
according to our guidelines that are posted on this website and don't even attempt to start learning the Pose Method® in your old chunkies, that is a sure way to more injuries. The right running shoes will help you learn how to run correctly while allowing your feet and legs to function at their best.
