IS THE POSE METHOD® SIMPLE?

All these on-going discussions on our running forum about the Pose Method® create some fear and hesitation in newcomers about the complexity of the Pose Method®.

So, is the Pose Method® simple? Yes, it is, on the one hand, and it's not, on the other. The concept of the Pose Method® is indeed very simple, it has just three elements: Pose-Fall-Pull. Most of our readers are familiar with these concepts theoretically and practically, but why do these simple things become so difficult?

The major obstacle is people themselves, with their desire to get everything easy, almost for free. But, as the famous saying goes: "there is no such a thing as a free lunch", which I agree completely with. You shouldn't expect any easiness, when you are going to learn something new, especially when it is so radically new, that it doesn't fit into anything you are familiar with. Bacon Francis in his "Novum Organum Scientiarum" (1620) wrote that, "People usually love those sciences and theories which they think they authored or invented, or those into which they invested most labor and are most accustomed to".

Anything new brings a subconscious resistance, which people are not even aware of. On a conscious level, they all want to stop their negative experience of nagging injuries and to make their run more pleasant, comfortable and safe. But subconsciously, they got themselves into repeated cycles of pain and suffering. Of course, they had positive things in the past as well, such as their PR's on distances and good places in racing. So what is the reason to change it? Is it just because of pain? But for the beginners this problem doesn't even exist yet. They are on a cross road and are just about to make a choice where to go, and what to take on board to make their entrance into running successfully.

Where do they go now? Is the Pose Method a solution for their problems? Is it difficult? Judging by the Pose Tech's Running Forum discussions, yes, it is so very complicated! Is it really so? Can you avoid these complications? Is it doable? The answer is certainly, yes! But under one condition, you have to really dedicate yourself to what you intended to do. You have to keep in mind that the Pose Method has truly a very simple concept: Pose-Fall-Pull. And we are not really talking about which muscles to use and what kind of efforts to apply. Do not complicate simple things yourselves!

Just remember these simple rules:
  • Lean forward as much as you want to employ gravity
  • Don't involve any muscular efforts in this "action", but just keep the pose
  • Pull the foot from the ground under the hip, it's the only action you need to do

I like the following phrase from the Bible, which could be related with this topic: "But let your statement be, "Yes, yes" or "No, no; and anything beyond these is of evil" (Matthew 37).
