PREVENTING CALF SORENESS
When first starting with the Pose Method of running, majority experience calf soreness. While it is a common occurrence,
it can be prevented and avoided.
Follow the guidelines below to glide through the "beginner stage" and to build a lasting foundation to provide for a great running technique.
- START JUMPING ROPE AS SOON AS YOU DECIDE TO LEARN POSE RUNNING. This is one single best step you can do to help yourself! Start doing the jumping rope exercise as soon as you decide, and continue on while reading and learning. Start lightly and gradually increase the duration. You can also do various hops on both legs.
- JUMPING WITH ROPE - BEST EXERCISE FOR YOUR FEET!
- DO EVERYTHING BAREFOOT. It is essential to let your feet get acclimated and start building some strength.
- It is extremely important to keep your heel low, lightly touching but off the ground with the body weight off it
- Keep body weight on the ball of the foot
- The foot position should remain neutral at all times no matter what. Don't fix it at a locked angle, don't try to land it, just let it be ready - ready for anything.

- START RUNNING DRILLS. We always recommend starting learning the method with the drills. They will help you get on the right track and save you time and effort. You're welcome to follow DR.ROMANOV'S SAMPLE TRAINING ROUTINE FOR RUNNERS or a BEGINNERS GUIDE, and check out the related articles below:

- RUN UPHILL. One of the best things to do to develop stronger calves and a better landing on the ball of foot. Running uphill helps you run better on a flat course. As usual, don't overdo it. That's why it's listed last. Get yourself a little bit ready for this one.

Note, we recommend to
stay away from what's called
"calf raises". A forceful and unnatural move can do serious damage to your calf muscle and has no purpose in running.
