HOW TO KEEP GOOD FORM FOR SHORT, MIDDLE AND LONG DISTANCES

We have discussed in the past how to maintain your newly found good running technique. Today, we'd like to talk specifically about keeping your good form through short, middle and long distances.

What seems to be three separate topics is actually a subject for only one discussion, because from the Pose Method® point of view, regardless of the distance you're aiming for, the technique you should utilize is one and the same. Following this logic, it is correct to assume that there is one unifying approach to keeping good running form for any given distance.

So, how can one maintain a good form whatever the distance? The answer is simple - maintain focus at all times. To have a good form you need to learn it and practice it. To keep it - you have to learn to keep your focus on it. The longer the distance the more opportunities for your technique to disintegrate. Contrary to the popular belief, the disintegration of ones technique is the root of all evil, all problems start here and it's down the hill, at a rapid pace, from that point on.

Now, if you're one of the folks that run to enjoy and relax and don't want to turn running into anything other than a mindless joyride to "get away from it all" - we got news for you, you'd be a 100% better of if you made your running a mindful activity and then it could become a joyride for life. If you haven't experienced any injuries yet - more power to you, keep going! Overwhelming majority, however, gets injured shortly after they take up running. Why? Partially because the wannabe runners do not know how to run and on top of it they decide that they can "just do it". It might work for Nike, but it doesn't work for any runner. Would you ever think of swimming one sunny day if you've never done it before? Of course not, you'd want to learn how to do it first. Would you ever consider just swimming around, thinking of other stuff that goes on in your life while just flapping away with your arms... probably not.

Here's something to consider for the ones using running to "get away". By focusing on correct technique you will help your mind relax and stop thinking about everything else. Feel the breeze, feel your body, enjoy.

A good technique for running comes from learning how to run correctly and then practicing it by doing specific running drills. An ingrained correct body movement and a focus on it during running are the main ingredients of the formula to maintaining a good form for any distance.
