Ken Katz Technique Analysis
This is Pose Runner Kenneth Katz, better known as ToxDoc on the Pose Forum. He is running in his newly purchased pair of Vibram Five Fingers. Let him know how he’s doing. He would like some feedback on his form. We had some technical difficulties with the clip, thankfully we got it worked out. Happy Birthday Ken!

How to Post on POSE Community Video Pages
How to Post a Clip in the Pose CommunityHere at PoseTech, we evolve with the times. Due to the high demand for video online, we have created a “Video Library” (the POSE vLog) for everyone’s input and use. Every Wednesday we cover a new topic in our section dubbed “Video Wednesdays.” On any other day, our members have the ability to Post their own clips and/or suggestions in our Pose Community vLog for others to review and/or comment on. This is a great way to get feedback on your form and to track your improvements. You can even help your fellow athlete’s around the world get better. This community is all about input, so everyone is welcome to join in. Post your clip today!
What you need to Post today:
- A video camera (preferably miniDV or other digital formats)
- We recommend:
- Canon
- Canon ZR300 MiniDV Camcorder (as low as $399, great consumer camera)
- Canon GL2 MiniDV Camcorder (as low as $2,299, exceptional quality from a prosumer camera)
- Canon XL2 MiniDV Camcorder (as low as $3,999, top notch professional quality. My personal choice.)
- Sony
- Sony DCR-HC32 MiniDV Handycam Camcorder (as low as $449, great camera for beginners)
- Sony HDR-HC1 2.8 MP HD MiniDV Camcorder (as low as $1,899, a good camera at a good price)
- Sony - DCR-VX2100 Mini-DV Camcorder (as low as $2,399, practical HD)
- Windows Movie Maker 2.x (free, Win only, your computer needs to have a firewire port to capture; most new computer come with several)
- iMovie (free, Mac only, most Mac’s come with firewire ports since apple created the FireWire Standard.)
- PYRO BasicDV includes Video Studio 4.01 ($42.95, pkg includes a 3 port firewire 1394 card for PC or Mac, 1394 firewire cable, and Video Studio 4.01 capture software.)
- Ulead VideoStudio 9.0 Video Editor ($79.95, capture, edit, and share.)
- Windows Media Encoder (Win Only) or Quicktime (Mac & Win) to create compressed .wmv or .mov files for quick viewing and downloading on the web.
- When opening Windows Media Encoder select “Convert a File” from the menu.
- Next select the source clip, and where you’d like to save the newly created clip.
- In the next window select the “File Download (computer playback)” option. (It is the default selection for encoding)
- When using Quicktime to encode clips, open the file to be encoded.
- Next select File > Export
- Enter the desired filename
- Export > select “Movie to Quicktime Movie”
- Use > select DSL/Cable – High or LAN for encoding quality
- In Windows Media Encoder you can playback your clip and do a screen capture with audio and visual (via your mouse) that lets you verbally explain and/or analyze your own technique. (this can be done with other’s clips, but you would have to have their permission and access to the clip.)
- A way to host your video online (ex. Google Video, MySpace.com, OurMedia.org, etc)
- Our recommendations would be as follows:
- Or Your Personal Preference
- An account with PoseTech Video Community. It’s free, so register now!
It seems like a long list, but it’s fairly easy after you do it once. When you have all that in order, you’ll be ready to post.
Provide a brief description of your background; how long you’ve been running, whether you are or were injured, your experience with POSE and what you would like to correct or get better at. Of course anything else you’d like to add is good too, the more information the better.
Here are some guidelines for posting:
- Make titles descriptive of what you are trying to convey or the error that is in question of (ex. “How is my landing?” Or “POSE Running Uphill/Downhill technique question”)
- The summary is used for RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, and ATOM feeds. So if you would like your clip to be viewed by subscribers to the “feed” please fill in a brief summary of your clip and questions.
- RSS 1.0
- RSS 2.0
- ATOM
- To read RSS or ATOM feeds on your desktop you need a feed aggregator
- CITA RSS Aggregator
- SharpReader
- The FeedBurner™ Mobile Feed Reader 2.0 (For the mobile crowd)
- Google Search for News Aggregators (More choices)
- The Body is where you should include the bulk of your text. This along with the summary field are the ones you’ll use primarily. If more room is needed, usually over 20 lines, the “extended text” box is for that purpose.
- Video URL – Provide the URL of where your video is located. (If you signed up with OurMedia.org or any other of our suggested host’s they will provide you with a permanent link to your video as soon as it is approved as non offensive material) Place that link in http:// format here.
- Videos are preferred in 320px by 240px or larger.
- Thumbnail URL – If you have a thumbnail of your video, please provide that link, preferably in 320px by 240px size.
- Trackback URL – If you would like to let a fellow Blogger or vLogger know that you are talking about him, you would include their blog post’s Trackback URL, which would ping their blog to let them know that you have mentioned them in your post.
- More on how Trackback URL’s work can be found here
- Date created is automatically filled in for you, however, if you want to make the post to a previous date, you can do so.
- Expiration date limits the amount of time your post is available. If you set it to be up for a week, after that week, the post will no longer be accessible. For our educational purposes, we don’t encourage the use of expiration date.
- Comment for expiration date is telling everyone why you put a time limit on your particular post.
- Allow comments checkbox – if you would like to receive responses from other members, then leave this checked.
- Allow trackback’s checkbox – if you would like to allow others to link to your vlog, leave this checked.
- Ping Server – this is a default list of servers that get “pinged (notified)” that you have made a post on our Pose Community vLog.
