Landes Schau die POSE Method
A German TV program features a spot on the POSE Method. Our POSE Coach Dr. Frank Weinert is interviewed on the POSE Method.
He: „Many top athlethes use a running technique, called Pose Method of Running, which was developed by a Russian sport scientist almost 30 years ago.“
She: Pose Method means: Running with the help of gravity...
He: You mean something like falling forward?
She: Just wait a moment. Experts say, that you can prevent running injuries by running POSE. Müllheim, in the southwest of Germany, is the place, where you can learn Pose Method of Running.
Christof Gehring(CG) was at the heels of these self-willed runners.
CG: Haile Gebrselassie, 10,000m Olympic Champion in Sydney 2000 is running POSE style for a long time now. His secret: Jumping on the forefoot.
The recreational runners in Müllheim are running POSE style too. You have to learn this unusual running technique step by step. First you do drills to step on the ground as quietly as possible.
Dr. Weinert: There are three main principles with Pose:
1. The Running POSE
2. Ground contact with the forefoot touching the ground under the GCM
3. Falling forward
Which we learn in specific drills.
CG: Unusual but very effective: running with a rubberband (Stretch Cordz) around the ankles. Main target: Pull your feet off the ground as fast as possible.
Even the jumping drills are not only fun, it´s mainly brain work.
Dr. W: The rubberband (Stretch Cord) is aggravating the movement pattern during the drills. It´s for facilitating neuromuscular patterns. So you are able to learn movement patterns faster and you can recall them easier.
CG: Pose Method of Running utilizes the physical laws.
Short Steps, arms only for balance and falling forward. This is running with gravity.
And you don´t depend on expensive high tech runing shoes…
Dr. W: The common heel stiking technique in running is only possible through extensive cushioned running shoes. Without them you could´t tolerate the load on your joints and tendons.
With Pose you take the load off your joints and tendons with the shock-absorbing capacity of your own legs. So you don´t need any special shock absorbing shoes.
